I appreciate the introspection about your process and what you offer. It feels like you have a more personal relationship with your readers than most fantasy writers. I think you're too hard on yourself though, because 99% of the things you lay out are things we relate to rather than get upset about. Sending a post later than normal because you got to go see a playoff baseball game (Jays fan but could still relate haha) or had a important family event is super relatable and makes me more of a fan than a critic. The vulnerability about your process exposes more strength than weakness, and it's a major reason I consider myself a fan of your work. To address your comments about rankings, I actually find your rankings the most important ones each year, because of the context you provide behind them, as well as the trending up/down aspects, which lets me build my own flexible ranks from that.
Longer post than expected, but mostly want to say thank you and I look forward to your articles whenever they come. Enjoy the summer!
Ben Gretch a film bro! Never thought I’d see the day. 🤣
Been here a half decade now and no intention of going anywhere. Hopefully 2026 is better for you and your family. Excited to see what you have to say on the landscape as we head towards the spring. Your work remains hugely appreciated.
I love this macro level stuff, this is gonna be fun. It’ll be my first off season here and I’m pumped for the analysis, let’s go!
So what’s the difference between a subscriber that you’d be “bummed to lose” and one that you don’t mind losing?
I mean, the guys like me who comment a lot and ask too many questions probably annoy you 😂 but we’re also the lifers so what qualifies as a sub that you aren’t very bummed to lose? Complaining? 😊
People who aren’t really reading me for the right reasons, and just want rankings, sleepers, lists, the kind of stuff people are used to in fantasy. I still try to do some of that stuff obviously but some people are just always requesting certain types of content that isn’t a good fit for me, and is more about them trying to tailor my work to their preferences. They are also the first ones to go if they don’t get what they are looking for, so it’s mutually beneficial if they move on, I think.
Ya, there are so many other sources for rankings, blurbs, news, and lists etc., clearly the value here is the deep dive assessments and high level macro analysis….really can’t find anything similar in the space, it’s very unique. Plus the writing style and transparency is refreshingly entertaining.
I keep copy/pasting quotes to buddies, a good number will be signing up!
I've only been a subscriber since the middle of this season but this has been my favorite post yet. So many great conceptual nuggets that has made me evaluate and re-think my weekly process too.

Appreciate you, Geoff. Always really appreciate people taking the time to write a longer post like this. Means a lot to get this feedback.
“Too hard on yourself” might be the understatement of the decade 😂 Excellent comment btw, very well articulated
