I know a lot of you are still waiting to draft here in the final days before the season kicks off Thursday, but a ton have also gotten your biggest drafts completed, and it’s been really cool to see the rosters so many of you have sent. It’s always tough to get back to everyone — one of the unfortunate realities of this job is it gets busiest right when the community is most engaged, and when I’d love to be able to spend more time interacting with you guys individually.
As for me, I’m drafting nearly every day right now, preparing for the regular season, and also getting ready for a trip to Vegas for a couple days this week to draft a few live high-stakes teams for the first time, which should be a blast (as a result, you probably won’t hear from me from Wednesday-Saturday, but rest assured I’ll be ready with Week 1 Stealing Signals come next Monday).
This will be our final Monday Mailbag of the offseason as we get ready for the regular season. I’ve been able to hit a few of your questions individually, but one recurring discussion as team are being drafted has been how to allocate benches in certain types of builds. Let’s look at one that is probably fairly representative of the types of teams you guys are drafting.
From Scott via Discord:
“I did my first true Zero RB draft last night! Went ham on WR (Kupp, AJB, M Williams, G Davis, M Brown, London, S Moore, G Wilson) plus an elite QB and TE, but I only wound up with 4 RBs (Pollard, Henderson, Carter, R White). What’s the correct balance of WRs to RBs on this type of roster? Am I currently not giving myself enough bites at the apple, or should I trust the hardcore receiver depth?”
These are the types of rosters and questions I’m starting to see more from multiyear subscribers, and I love it. We’re getting deeper into the weeds in terms of how to manage these rosters, rounding off some edges, and hopefully getting you guys are feeling more comfortable with the overall builds and what the goals are.
