Thanks for the (second) shoutout for the comment earlier in the week. One more and I'll have to take my buddies advice and add it to my Twitter bio. I really appreciate your insights into the 'mechanical' aspects of fantasy like roster construction in home leagues.
One angle on the Curtis Samuel question I was interested in was - leaving aside him as a player or his situation - in a ZeroRB build should we be paying attention to the waiver wire for WRs at all during the first few weeks? We’ve drafted a lot of value and depth at the position. Surely investing FAAB in *any* wire receiver in the early weeks is oppositional to our structure?
That's more or less how I play it, with some flexibility. But we should be skeptical of someone like Samuel even more if the upside scenarios don't even really help our team.
i drop my kicker every week unless i somehow ended up with one of those “elite” starters. i’d rather stash a guy for the week to block someone else then drop them to waivers on sunday to pickup my kicker matchup. it also allows me to ponder decisions especially when i have a guy like higgins most likely not playing this week so i’ll be moving him to IR to free up the K spot.
adam harstad over at footballguys has a great weekly article of kickers to rent (betting favorite/high total/dome). if i lost my matchup because my rented kicker underperformed, then i probably didn’t deserve to win that week anyways.
The substack reader is pretty handy for listening to your article when I am out walking the dog. Discovered it yesterday. One glitch is that with some of your statistical breakdowns, the reader translates the numbers into dates. So for example when giving us MVS's targets/catches/yards, your written numbers of 4-4-44, becomes April 4 44 in spoken form. So you better know the correct number for each month lol.
