So have loved all the stuff and mainly this article before my draft yesterday.. did i take the zero rb/antifragile too far by going too upside heavy in Two QB half ppr draft? Have my other main league on Thursday so curious.
QB: Lamar, Hurts, Lawrence
RB: Swift, Javonte, Sermon, GusBus, Ty Johnson, Hines
WR: Jefferson, Lamb, Kupp, Jeudy, Elijah Moore, Meyers, Marshall, AJ Green
Nope, I really like that build. You're in great shape at QB, I think have plenty of RB upside plus the stability of Gus and Hines, and did well to grab strong WR depth. Hopefully Irv breaks out!
Haha that makes me feel much better after waking up this morning and realizing like 70% of my team is rookie/sophomores. Wasn't sure if I took it too far. It's my 2nd year trying to implement the zero-rb strategy - grinded Stealing Bananas + ETR pods on my commute and definitely felt more comfortable with it this season.
What about AJ Brown, you worried about him? Some news about his recovery from off season surgery does not sound great and with guys like Jefferson and Metcalf at the same range, is he too risky?
I've neem making the plunge on AJB, but I understand taking those guys over him if you're concerned. That's a big reason I use tiers, to try to keep my grounded on my individual player takes.
Great stuff Ben. I saw you bumped James Robinson up a tier. If it's worst-case scenario and Etienne is done for the season, how much higher does Robinson go? Is he in the Carson/Sanders/Montgomery range or does he get as high as Dobbins/Henderson tier?
I gotta figure this out. I just made a quick move so it wasn't way off, but I could see moving him higher to that Carson/Sanders/Montgomery range, which basically means he could be a dead zone target if the value is right but I would also have to avoid at a certain price. Think I'd need clarification ETN was out for the year like you said to even consider JRob in the Dobbins/Henderson group, and even then I think I'd have him behind those guys (whether he's in that tier is what I'd need to figure out). I've seen some comments that already have JRob that high and I think that's aggressive given what we know now, because ETN still looms as a late-season value-killer.
Thanks, yeah it's a tricky situation. I woke up on the clock in the 7th round of an FFPC slow draft and had Viska in my queue but suddenly had to reevaluate because Robinson was still there. Wound up sticking with my structure and taking Viska but it was tough to decide with very limited information.
Hey Gretchmeister - I heard your Drafting for Value podcast. Building on Shawn’s point about how important the TE position is, if I sit at the 12 spot in PPR would I be crazy if I drafted WR, Waller, WR, Hockensen/Pitts in the first four rounds to ensure I’m covered with an elite TE?
I think that's probably committing too many resources in a way that you'll lose some of the advantage you're hoping to gain the second you double up on it. Even if you can flex, a big part of the value of those TEs is positional — how much better they are than other TEs. You're not getting that advantage in the flex spot, and I'd prefer just taking a WR instead.
Love the way you're looking at this one - the logic does track. Annoying personal question for you.
Half PPR 2RB 2 WR 1TE 1 Flex league. Do I now keep Aiyuk in round 12 or James Robinson in round 8? If Etienne is announced out just a month I'm thinking AIyuk, and anything longer than 2 months, I go Robinson.
Yeah I still lean Aiyuk there but I could see Robinson if it's clear Etienne might miss a big chunk of the season. I really like Robinson the player but if Etienne looks like he'll be back at any point, you're getting a lot of early-season production but with a Round-1-draft-capital-sized cloud hanging over that, meaning he could always lose work late in the season. And Aiyuk the clear bet for multi-year keeper value (assuming you could keep him again in 2022).
Another great post. Explaining the concept of fragility/anti-fragility was helpful even to me who was already implementing the concepts in my drafts

Or he's just out for the year 😭😭😭
